The Good

Once more - with substance

Remember this order I placed with Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs? The one that never arrived? No? Here is a reminder!

It’s sitting somewhere in Finnish customs - damn them (the Finnish customs - not BPAL, heh!! I was fortunate to sniff some of the scents on the order list I had, so I know what they smell like (although I’ll be damned if I remember which ones were which). I REALLY wanted to have at least a few imps from BPAL, and christmas is coming up, so I ordered myself a christmas gift.

This time it was only 6 imps - better safer than sorrier (don’t blame me! It’s quoted from J and it’s also very stuck in my head), I know that now.

ANUBIS
He Who Counts the Hearts, Jackal Ruler of the Bows, He Who Is In the Place of Embalming. Jackal-headed guardian, protector and psychopomp of Egypt’s dead, he guides souls to the underworld and holds steady the scales upon which the deceased’s heart is weighed against Ma’at’s Feather of Truth. He is the creator and master of funereal rites, He Who Opens the Mouth of the Dead, and is the sentinel that watches over the sanctity of tombs and the virtue and privacy of his charges. His scent is a blend of holy myrrh, storax, balsam, and embalming herbs.

HURRICANE
The Dark Side of Air: a high pitched, tangy, clear scent; light China rain deepened by murky vetivert.

LANGUOR
An opiate torpor, soporific, trancelike, and sublimely languid. A poet’s morphine dream, a listless journey into a gentle dream and the precipice of intoxicated madness. Paperwhite and black narcissus, three lilies, black poppy and tuberose and a hint of hypnotic opium den haze.

LOVIATAR
The Finnish Goddess of Agony, Torment and the joy found in inflicting pain on others. The Mistress of Torture, she has transformed in the modern era into the patron Goddess of Dominatrixes. The slap of slick, hot leather punctuates the warm, sensual embrace of black amber, red musk and dark, lascivious myrrh.

VEIL
A quiet scent, soft, calm and enigmatic. A perfume of mystery, of whispers, and of secrets behind secrets. White sandalwood, lilac, gardenia, violet, orris, lavender and ylang ylang.

ZOMBI
Dried roses, rose leaf, Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth.

Point

Some good luck in the bad luck and a dash of good karma all around.

I heart Amazon.co.uk - oh yes I do. I ordered the complete collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer the day it was released (thanks to mum who sent me money for my birthday), and we’ve been watching episode by episode ever since it arrived in the mail. That is, until yesterday when I was about to change dvd from disc #3 to disc #4 of season 5. It wasn’t in the placeholder.

My heart sank. Thinking that paying for shipping back to Amazon, even though they refund it later (if they deem that the fault is on their behalf) would mean a butt load of waiting and dishing out money we don’t really have for something we might or might not get a refund for. I was actually thinking that I would have to end up buying all of season 5, just to replace the missing #4 disc.

I went through the process for returning items just as a formality, cause I wasn’t expecting to go through with the refund with all that shipping and whatnot, but they were absolute sweethearts and they’re sending me a new complete set, but because shipping would be horribly expensive they told me to keep the old item, and if I feel so inclined I can donate the incomplete set to charity.

So yeah, we’re donating it. When the new set arrives (and after I check that all discs are in place, heh) we’ll be giving the other away. We’re still thinking of where to donate to, but we’re definitely going with something locally.

In the meanwhile, I’ll have a lot more free time on my hands.

So, what are you up to?

Did some laundry.

OMFG ONLY 4 DAYS LEFT. FOUR!!!

I’m panicking.

Point

Smell that

I decided to treat myself and ordered imps from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - because dammit, I’m worth it!

Here is a nice little list of what I will be expecting (if all goes well) within a month or so.

BELLADONNA
The devil’s herb, which he cultivates with skill and pleasure. According to lore, the spirit of this plant may take the form of a breathtaking, achingly beautiful woman, deadly to behold. This scent is a tribute to such a dark and magnificent plant: a rich green and floral blend, earthy and haunting.

BLACK LOTUS
Born in the shadows of a Temple to Set, this corrupted Egyptian scent evokes images of black pyramids, river demons, and bleak, deadly desert sands. Black lotus flower, amber, myrrh and sandalwood.

CATHODE
A negatively charged scent. Ambergris, Spanish Moss, oakmoss and three electric mints.

MANTIS
Crushed herbs and sweet amber resin with a streak of patchouli, neroli and golden musk.

VEIL
A quiet scent, soft, calm and enigmatic. A perfume of mystery, of whispers, and of secrets behind secrets. White sandalwood, lilac, gardenia, violet, orris, lavender and ylang ylang.

MIDNIGHT
An ethereal bouquet of night-blooming flowers. Evening primrose, ruellia, flowering nicotiana, wild petunia, panani-o-kai, night phlox, night gladiolus, moonflower and the elusive scent of Nottingham Catchfly.

ZOMBI
Dried roses, rose leaf, Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth.

HURRICANE
The Dark Side of Air: a high pitched, tangy, clear scent; light China rain deepened by murky vetivert.

FALLEN
Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven. This is our song to Lucifer, Lucis Ferre, Heosphoros, the Morning Star, the Brilliant One and the Son of the Morning. He is equated with Samhazai, the Heaven-Seizer, and Azazel, one of the 200 Fallen Angels of Enoch. The essence of overweening pride and unearthly angelic beauty. A regal scent, glowing darkly, elegant and patrician, but unfathomably desolate. Cherubic white sandalwood and golden musk with a dark halo of amber, a breath of imperial florals, unbending woods, and the shadow cast by vetiver and violet.

LIBERTINE
Rosewood and chamomile with bergamot, violet, red sandalwood, primrose and Arabian musk.

I’m hoping maybe J will want to try at least one of them. Just one!
